Biography:
 
     MaryBeth is a native Oklahoman and an enrolled member of the Cherokee Nation. She was born in Pryor, but lived more than half her life in central Oklahoma. She also spent a few years living in Fort Gibson in order to be closer to her family and her native roots.
     She is adept in many mediums and draws her inspiration from her love of nature and her heritage. She is self-taught and focuses mainly on traditional and contemporary Indian art. Though still considered an “up and coming” artist, MaryBeth has won numerous awards and has drawn the attention of wildlife and Indian art collectors alike. 
     MaryBeth is a member of the Southeastern Artist Association (formerly CAA) from 2006 to the Present.

Awards:
 
     MaryBeth Nelson has won many awards and honorable mentions and as many as three awards from the same compitition. She probably should have taken more artwork, but 3 out of 3 isn't bad.
     Going to the 5 Civilized Tribes Competitive Art Show, in 2005 MaryBeth started out with the 3rd Place Sculpture Award, in 2006 was presented the 2nd Place Sculpture Award and the Southeastern Wildlife Award, in 2008 came away with a Honorable Mention - Miniature Award, in 2010 MaryBeth won the 2nd Place Graphics Award, in 2011 MaryBeth walked away with the 1st Place Graphics, Southeastern Wildlife Award and had a Honorable Mention Painting Award.
      When entering the Southeastern Art Show And Market, in 2005 MaryBeth started out with the 2nd Place Sculpture Award , in 2006 won the 2nd Place Painting Award, in 2007 was rewarded with 3rd Place Painting Award, in 2008 she came away with 1st Place Drawing Award, in 2010 walked away with 3rd Place Drawing Award and with the 1st Place Graphics Award.
      The Cherokee Art Market (N. Carolina) in 2007 placed MaryBeth 1st in Graphic Art and 2nd in Painting. In the Cherokee Art Market (Oklahoma) in 2006 MaryBeth was rewarded with the CNE Purchase Award.
      MaryBeth won more awards in the Southeastern Art Show And Market. In 2005 MaryBeth started out with the 2nd Place Sculpture Award. In 2007 won the 2nd Place Graphics Award, and followed that up in 2008 by winning the 2nd Place Graphics Award again.
      In the Cherokee Holiday Art Show in 2006 MaryBeth recieved the Judges Choice Award and in 2008 was rewarded with a Honorable Mention - Graphics Award.
     Going to the Cherokee Homecoming Show, in 2004 MaryBeth aquired a 1st Place Contemporary Sculpture Award and in 2005 recieved a Honorable Mention, in 2007 was rewarded with the Judges Choice Award.
     And let's not forget the Trail of Tears Art Show where in 2008 MaryBeth recieved the 3rd Place Painting Award and in 2011 was rewarded with a Honorable Mention - Painting Award.
     Tulsa noticed MaryBeth's talent in the 2006 Tulsa Indian Arts Festival and gave a 3rd Place Sculpture Award to her.
     Alanta took notice in the Atlanta Indian Market in 2007 where MaryBeth took the 2nd Place Graphics Award.
 
     To top all the awards off, it's nice to be recognized on the front of a magazine. In the 2005 November issue of OK Casino Today showed some nice forsight and featured MaryBeth Nelson as the
Featured Cover Artist.
